3 Favorite Central Oregon Adventures (So Far)
It has been a while since we have posted to the blog, as we have been extremely busy with our new lives in Bend. Summer is in full swing, which means we have been trying to get outside and explore as much as possible. Although we would love to talk more about tiny living, one of the core reasons for why we decided to go tiny in the first place was to be able to spend more time outside.
With that said, sharing our adventures with you guys is an integral part of our tiny living lifestyle. In just the short four months that we have been in Central Oregon, we have already explored many lakes, mountains, and forests. Below, we would like to share our top 3 favorite Central Oregon adventures so far.

Below, we would like to share our top 3 favorite Central Oregon adventures so far.
1. Snowshoe Backpacking Crater Lake
Lauren and I spent 3 days backpacking along the rim of Crater Lake, which still had over 9 feet of snow on the ground in late April! We had a great time soaking up the sun, while catching stunning views pretty much everywhere we looked. Although snow camping may not be for everyone, a good sleeping pad and sleeping bag make it completely doable!
2. Climb Broken Top Mountain
The adrenaline from scrambling up the exposed summit block comprised of brittle volcanic rock is still fresh in my veins. I spent a night camping just above the banks of snow next to Green Lakes, where I was blessed with an impossibly starry night. My friend Peter and I started the climb early the next morning, dragging heavy legs 3,500' up the steep slopes of the mountain, topping out at a modest elevation of 9,177'.
3. Exploring Smith Rock State Park
No visit to Central Oregon is complete without spending some time in Smith Rock State Park. Being one of Oregon's seven natural wonders (Crater Lake being another), it inspires its visitors with raw natural beauty and world class rock climbing. I have only climbed there once, but have spent a lot of time exploring the parks plentiful hiking trails. With trails ranging from 1 to 7 miles, there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy!
P.S. We will be releasing our Adventure Abode Tiny Home video tour very soon! Keep an eye out!
